NASPAA Associate Membership

Associate membership is open to academic institutions around the globe that seek a supportive role in NASPAA, such as those that are developing an MPA/MPP degree program. It provides a path to full membership for eligible programs.

Associate membership is also open to government agencies, foundations, professional associations, research institutes, and other organizations that want to be connected to the public affairs education community.

Associate members are active members of our community, but cannot become involved in accreditation efforts or association governance, and are not listed in NASPAA's school search tool. They do receive all other NASPAA membership benefits:

  • Joining a prestigious public affairs community of deans, program directors, and faculty at nearly 300 schools of public affairs across the US and around the globe.
  • Discounted registration for the NASPAA Annual Conference.
  • Attending NASPAA meetings, and becoming involved in other NASPAA projects and initiatives.
  • Join NASPAA listservs to exchange ideas and share best practices.
  • An electronic subscription to NASPAA's quarterly, peer-reviewed Journal of Public Affairs Education.
  • A subscription to NASPAA's monthly e-newsletter.
  • One free copy annually of the NASPAA membership mailing list.

See Ten Things You Could Do as a NASPAA Member, and a summary of recent NASPAA activities can be found in a four-page Year in Review brochure.

APPLYING FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

To apply, download the Associate Membership application [in docx format].

Membership applications are reviewed and voted on by NASPAA's Executive Council. Membership acceptance does not imply that NASPAA has made any judgment about the quality of a member's academic programs.

We are happy to discuss membership and the application process. Please contact Executive Director Laurel McFarland at mcfarland@naspaa.org.
