NONPROFIT SURVEY SUMMARY


NASPAA recently conducted a survey of its institutional members to find ways to assist schools with nonprofit student recruitment and employment. The survey was distributed to more than 260 member schools. Eighty-eight schools responded to the survey.

The following is a summary of the survey results:

• The most common offering of nonprofit study was a nonprofit concentration within the MPA/MPP (53%), followed by coursework but no formal concentration (40%). One-third (33%) of schools reported having a nonprofit certificate. 

• Fifty-five percent of schools reported seeing an increasing interest from students in nonprofit curriculum within the last year. Thirty-eight percent stated no change in interest.

• Almost two-thirds (65%) of schools stated that there was no change in interest in their nonprofit graduates from employers. Twenty-nine percent reported an increasing interest.

• Over two-thirds (69%) of schools anticipate an increasing interest from their students next year in nonprofits. Thirty-one percent of schools do not anticipate an increasing interest.

• Over one-third (36%) of schools reported that they were not seeing increased competition from their on-campus business school or other business schools for their students with respect to nonprofit education. Approximately one-third (32%) reported increased competition. One-third (32%) reported no change in competition.
