Teaching Students about Fiscal Sustainability: Public Agenda’s Our Budget Our Future Are you Trying to Wake up your Students to the Fiscal and Budget Challenges ahead of them as future leaders and administrators in public service? Public Agenda's “Students Face Up to the Nation's Finances” initiative provides a package of learning materials (readings, film slides, Web-based components, discussion guides, writing and other student contests, and surveys) designed to raise students' awareness of our national fiscal challenges (our $9.5-trillion-and-growing national debt and its causes and potentially calamitous consequences), and engage students across the nation in a discussion of the solutions. The materials can be adopted as modules within existing classes or used by student organizations on campuses. Public Agenda is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research and public engagement organization founded in 1975 by Daniel Yankelovich and Cyrus Vance. Public Agenda requests that faculty or student groups using the materials contact them to let them know of their participation, and to provide feedback in the form of student writings and other activities, survey results, and blogs to their Web site:
