NASPAA Welcomes new Associate Member Alfozan Academy
Alfozan Academy is at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dharan, Saudi Arabia. It was established in 2015 through the cooperation between KFUPM and the Al Fozan Social Foundation to develop a generation of leaders that can competently manage the nonprofit sector in Saudi Arabia. Since then, it has produced more than 60 occupational standards and scientific qualifications, trained more than 15,000 trainees, established more than 315 volunteer units, created over 110 community initiatives, and more than 3,600 NGOs in more than 260 cities and villages across the country. The academy also holds an annual nonprofit forum to showcase the latest breakthroughs and international standard practices in the nonprofit sector.
Furthermore, Alfozan Academy offers specialized training courses, practitioner diploma certificates, and specialized master’s programs. To ensure diversity in teaching, it partners with major players in the nonprofit sector in the US and the UK, such as the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University; Bayes Business School at City University of London, London; Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University, Michigan; and Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation at Arizona State University. Joining NASPAA is a step towards developing more innovative curricula relevant to the current challenges of the nonprofit sector. It will also allow the academy to collaborate and exchange ideas with top public service institutions and faculty worldwide. We hope this Associate membership will contribute to our research, teaching, and learning.
